The mission of the National Association of Security Agencies (NASA) is to benefit the Security Industry (private security firms, electronic security, and private investigation firms) in states where no local professional association exists and in those states with an association to partner with them to professionalize the industry. We accomplish this goal through lobbying efforts and networking, which help to further enhance and advance the security industry.
Some form of security has been in existence since civilization began to document its history. Today, most security is provided by local and government law enforcement agencies, but the Private Security Industry has seen enormous growth in the past 30 years and now works hand-in-hand with local and government security agencies to help keep the nation and the world safe. However, the overwhelming perception of private security firms is still that of a "rent a cop" image and not of a highly trained security professional. Because of this perception and the lack of professional associations, NASA was formed.
